It's Winding Down: Will The Hawks Admit We Were Right?
What we didn't predict:
1. We never predicted that the 'coalition' wouldn't defeat the Iraqi army.
2. We never predicted that it would be another Vietnam (that prediction came from our own generals and military experts after the first week of setbacks).
What we did predict:
1. We predicted that there would be no great stockpiles of WMD
2. We predicted that the Iraqis would fight to defend their country.
3. We predicted that it would not be a 'cakewalk'.
4. We predicted that our troops would be greeted with death not flowers.
5. We predicted that the Arab world would be enraged (just because we don't see it on CNN, doesn't mean it isn't true).
6. We predicted that there would be thousands of Iraqi casualties.
7. We predicted that babies would be blown apart by our 'smart' bombs.
8. We predicted that the world would see us as an invader not a 'liberator'.
9. We predicted that the aftermath would be even more painful for the Iraqis than the operation itself.
10. We predicted that Saddam would likely never be found.
11. Last but not least we predicted that our fawning media would whitewash the whole affair to make GW look like a hero.
Don't hold your breath waiting for the other side to admit we were right. They have the propaganda machine on their side, and just like the debates that Bush 'won', this Iraq disaster will be spun as a rightwing victory.
But just for the record: WE TOLD YOU SO.
