Yeah, we display the American flag for 30 seconds, replace it with the Iraqi flag, and still we are the enemy. Check out the Drudge web site right now -- there's a wonderful picture of an Iraqi man kissing a photo of President Bush.

Ya gotta love it!!!!!!!!!!

Katie calls it "a desecration."

Which means--literally--that Saddam's image is "sacred" in Katie Couric's mind.

I can well believe it.

Re Katie and NBC -- my thought exactly. Let's bombard THEM with our vitriol and get rid of that idiot once and for all!

Re pieces of the Berlin wall -- want a laugh? Employees of Warner Bros. studios in Burbank have tiny pieces of that wall encased in plastic; some gift from their boss after the wall was destroyed.

The woman was mouthing off at one of the Rangers.

Either she's pretty brave, or very stooopid.

One wonders if she mouthed off to Iraqi RG or SRG types that way? Naaw, probably not; she's still walking and talking.

Re the Iraqi flag -- YES, Iraqis are hauling out their OLD, pre-Saddam flags for this occasion. Love it, love it, love it!

Brokenjaw adds: "We're well behind in the battle for hearts and minds [of world opinion]."

Well, yeah, Tom, YOU are. And I hope you stay "well behind" as those of us who already are ahead of the curve move foward into the future together.

Katie really is a loathsome little toad, isn't she? I loved the morning Ann Coulter left the imprint of her hand firmly against Katie's face. Downloaded that off PMSNBC.com and played it for weeks afterwards for anyone who would sit still long enough to watch it with me.

I hope to visit the Reagan Library someday.

Lemme tell you something, its worth the trip. Their intro video covering Reagan's Presidency brought me to tears, what a leader. Its a beautiful location too.

Onto other things on the thread; any results on FReeping Karbala Katie? I stopped watching anything but FOX so I didn't have any idea she was saying these things.

Don't you know that this is killing a certain dirtbag who used to occupy the Oval Office?

All these liberated people, used to living in slave conditions, throwing flowers at US tanks and singing the praises of George W. Bush!

I saw that and said, "Holy $#!t!"
Wonder how they kept those flags secret without anyone being drug away and killed for keeping them?

I'm confused. I know we were trying to keep civilian casualty numbers down, but what about civilian garbage? Two too many walking around Baghdad today.

Re pieces of the Berlin wall

There may be pieces all over the place but that "chunk" at the REAGAN library has SPECIAL meaning, after all, he's the one that demanded Gorbachev "TEAR DOWN THIS WALL"

Oh yes, I most certainly heard and saw the pride in David Asman's face talking about his son. I can only imagine the tension he's been under these past three weeks reporting the horrors knowing his son was in harms way.

What exactly happened between the time the US flag was replaced by the Iraqi one? Don't believe our flag was there longer than 5 minutes. During that time the soldiers attempted to secure the rope to the tank and I suspect word from their commander told them to remove our flag immediately. When our flag was draped over SH's face, Britt Hume said "no no" but he didn't go further, as he too realized the marine was caught up in the moment. The military has been told that Old Glory should not be prominent lest the Iraqis believe we were there to conquer not to liberate.

Katie needs to team up with Baghdad Bob.

One thing I hope comes out of all of this is an extremely low tolerance among the vast majority of Americans for the anti-American, anti-Bush naysayers in the media.

If ChIraq was in Baghdad, the Free Iraqis would be dragging his sorry a$$ along with the statue of his buddy, Soddomite.

I heard Arthur Kent, one-time "somebody", on Larry King Saturday night, and he made the statement that securing the peace in Iraq would be difficult without French and Russian cooperation because "France and Russia are more popular in Iraq than the United States." I emailed Larry and said that France and Russia were certainly more popular among the ruling elite of Iraq, but as for the Iraqi people, who really knows what they think, since no one has been able to ask them in over 25 years. After viewing the scenes from central Baghdad today, I'd like to see Arthur Kent make that statement again in the heart of Baghdad. The "Iraqi Street" seems to have refuted him.

In your channel hopping, I hope you didn't miss Britt Hume's comment as the statue began to come down. He said, "At this moment, one woulld have to say that this is Saddam finally waving goodbye."
