"November 7, 2002 -- His insistence that Election Day was a "good one" for Democrats notwithstanding, Tuesday's Democratic implosion stongly suggests that it's time for DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe to step down. To recap: McAuliffe's party lost control of the U.S. Senate, squandered a number of House seats and lost high-profile governors' races in Maryland and Florida. And behind every one of those losses sits McAuliffe, the man whose job it is (for now) to identify which races will need the DNC's full backing to carry Democrats to victory. The roots of his failure run deep.
"Nearly two years ago, McAuliffe - hand-picked by Bill and Hillary Clinton - was elected DNC chairman in a hotly contested race with then-Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson. On the Friday before the vote - after McAuliffe asserted that he had the support of roughly 80 percent of the DNC's black caucus - he referred to "colored people" as he was talking about alleged voter intimidation in Florida's 2000 presidential race. While McAuliffe partied Friday night away with fat-cat white supporters, the same black caucus got together - and in an impromptu vote - almost unanimously backed Jackson."
McAuliffe's Future is Bleak and Black...Arkancide is not outta the question, imho...MUD
