I have wondered about the cholesterol question since doing Atkins and having improvement in my numbers.

When your body manufactures cholesterol does it mostly make LDL or both? And does your body make more cholesterol when you eat less of it, or does it make pretty much the same amount all of the time?

HDL is said to be cholesterol returning from the tissues to the liver, so in a sense you are right about LDL coming from diet. Not completely accurate, though. LDL is "packaged" in the Liver, it may be just "recycled" though.
