"Somebody's darling, so young and so brave,
Wearing still on his sweet yet pale face
Soon to be hid in the dust of the grave,
The lingering light of his boyhood's grace.

Somebody's darling, somebody's pride
Who'll tell his mother, how her boy died?"

>sniff<

My favorite tear-jerker is "In the Baggage Coach Ahead", a little later period than Civil War, but what a classic! I sang it at a church concert, and there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

"Kathleen" is not too bad. I'm a low-range alto, but I can "cheat" up in my head voice if I don't have to stay there too long. The first F in "Kathleen" is only an eighth note, but I'll admit the second one that's a dotted quarter I have to be ready for! (big breath on the way up).

I think the main problem with the lengthy songs is that they really weren't originally intended for a formal public performance. In the days before records and radio, everybody provided their own entertainment, and if you had 6 verses even the folks who weren't confident singers could join in by 4 or 5!

I'd love to hear your CD - I'll FREEPmail you - I gotta go carry my youngest to the doctor right this minute. CUlater . . .

Thinking of the Berlin Wall just gets more PO'd at the Germans, those hypocritical bastards wanted freedom for themselves, but apparently not anyone else.

Personally I think every Panty Shield Wanker should have to face a trial held by the free Iraqis.

These worthless Wankers supported a despot and helped to delay this outcome. They are war criminals.

The symbols that the Iraqi people have come out with in the past few days is incredible.

exactly my thoughts. One week ago I was harping about having women in forward positions, but seeing that photo makes me reconsider.
