When protesters break the law or interfere with the rights of others they should be treated just like these idiots.
It is about time.
I cheered when the TV showed some these traitors and their bruises.
Hoo rah.
Thanks for the post.

Illbay -- We can parse 'declared' for a long time. The Regress authorised the war, not a doubt of it, but did not go so far as to vote on a declaration of war, which was my (perhaps too formalistic) intent in the post.
Like you, I detest the term 'police action'. One can be a soldier or one can be a policeman, but not both. Luckily, I did not use the term 'police action', or imply it.
Possibly, there should be 3 categories of martial action: declared war, authorised engagement, and action without status. That would certainly shift the numbers around in terms of US military actions throughout history.
Maybe the best result to eventuate from the elimination of Dirtbag and his cronies will be the abandonment of the hoary and antiquated Westphalian doctrine of internal sovereignity.

Nevertheless, I believe the intent of the Constitution was followed, whatever the language.
It is difficult to "conditionally declare war," which is what Congress did.
I feel confident that this would all pass Constitutional muster, by the court of last resort, if it were asked.

She has it exactly right.
Whenever the Leftist extremists call for "direct action," that's code for criminal acts. When they cross the line, they need to be vigorously prosecuted.

They are not dissenters. They are saboteurs. Sabotage is not a matter of free speech. It is a crime.
From Miriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary:
See definition number 2:
Pronunciation:*sa-b*-*t*zh
Function:noun
Etymology:French, from saboter to clatter with sabots, botch, sabotage, from sabot
Date:1910
1 : destruction of an employer's property (as tools or materials) or the hindering of manufacturing by discontented workers
2 : destructive or obstructive action carried on by a civilian or enemy agent to hinder a nation's war effort
3 a : an act or process tending to hamper or hurt b : deliberate subversion

The wooden dowels, rubber bullets and beanbags are a nice touch but I'm old school. A phalanx of policeman with riot batons wading into the crowd and cracking coconuts circa Chicago, 1968 and the honorable Richard J. Daley, might be appropriate. Ahhh, for the good ole days.

Thanks for the heads up!

Agreed. If it would NOT pass muster, then some **enormous** number of Presidential/Regressional actions would have to be deemed unconstitutional,
post facto.
And only the professional revisionists would like that outcome. :^)

Earlier in this thread I said the same thing. "Protests" that break the law are treated with nothing more than a slap on the hand these days because of the legacy of the Civil Rights movement in the South. But the black leaders who sat at lunch counters and tried to enter white only train cars got real jail time (sometimes weeks or months) and were ready to accecpt that for their cause. I bet not one of these anti war protestors would dare break the law if they thought they would spend more than two days in jail as a result. But these "protestors" know they will spend at most a night in jail and pay a fine for their cause de jur. That is not acceptable. You block a street or highway- you vandalize a business, you throw stones at police officers - it should be treated as serious crime regardless of the motivation. We have a legal "protest" in this country and it is called the vote and free speech. There is no reason for law breaking and it is about time for prosecutors and judges to stop their indulgence of street "protests".
That being said it is absolutely assinine to talk about "shooting" such morons. Such talk is not worthy of this site.

I agree, it is not worthy.
Still, I am very concerned that these protests have NOT been more harshly dealt with.
I continue to maintain that there are "firebrands" who have planned and instigated these. They are conspirators and need to spend some serious time in prison.

THere are ringleaders. They even set up lawyers before hand to represent those arrested at these protests. That is pre- meditation. They adivse on how to break the law before hand. It should be prosecuted to the fullest. Will it? Don't hold your breath.

The left has been getting away with crime after crime for the past several years. There are no consequences for their actions, therefore there is nothing they won' t do.
It is time to make them accountable and show them we will not tolerate this behavior any longer. Arrest them and throw away the key for awhile.
