same with the -stans, every week there's a new -stan coming out I'm not real big on "-stan" history, but the area is so sparsely populated (due to lack of resources) that I suspect the number of -stan countries hasn't changed for a few generations. Africa and the Balkans are a different story.

I just remember having to memorize all the countries in asia and identify them on a map for a test in like 8th grade and the -stans were the hardest part, so many of them are obscure and look the same to me. I just have an inherent hatred for convoluted geography...
