And as I look at the cheering crowds I have to wonder what a little more competency and technology might have done at the time to have cheering troops in Havana and Hanoi and have avoided decades of fear for those poor people. Well said. Who knew that this man had such inner strength? Why not? I've been thinking about Castro, too, and the stories of oppression from Miami Cuban-Americans who have been mocked and ignored by our press the way they ignored the tales of horror from Dearborn Iraqi-Americans. Our mainstream press has some explaining to do.

I think some Vietnam war scars were healed, too.
