Did I really see the tanks roll in?
Yep! It was about 5 AM CST. We had been seeing happy crowds on TV for about half an hour, maybe more. The camera teams were out with the Marines in the suburbs.
We were glued to the BagCam while watching the crowds on Tv. The cam was quieter than we've ever seen. No cars, no buses, no poleeeeze parades (LOL!). Just an eerie silence.
And then all the cams started panning around, zooming down the streets, swerving like crazy. Couldn't see anything, but we could hear the excitement as the cameramen tried to capture what they evidently were hearing.
Finally, from the roof cam, we could see lots of civilians RUNNING across the square and , Ba da Bing, there they were! Beautiful M1A1 tanks, Bradleys, all rolling into the square! At first the soldiers were inside while the tanks circled the square...surrounding the statue with military might. People were swarming all over the place and we couldn't believe it when the troops actually started dismounting and mulling in the crowd. People were kissing them and giving them flowers!
It was a glorious moment.
