He's making the point that officials of the Iraqi military are there with them. He's not saying ingore it. He's saying keep it in mind

I have kept it in mind. All the reporters I've heard today were saying they didn't hear a single shot coming from the hotel. However, the on-scene commanders reported they were taking "significant fire" from the hotel. I posted a picture of a sniper's nest on a building on the west side of the Tigris. The tankers said the whole area was a sniper's nest.

Who do you believe?

PC...can you post that photo again, please? And, is that sniper's nest in the same general area as this hotel? Do you mean the sniper's nest was at the hotel>

Someone posted on a different thread...how could these reporters know if there was or was not firing coming from the hotel...there was likely lots of intermittant gunfire from all around, how can they be so positive there was none coming from the hotel?

The media do believe they are the story.

I am tired of stories on how media members are doing, how they are operating, followed by the media criticism stories. As Howlin noted earlier, they are burying the Iraqi Children's Jail story because they need to use up the air time to discuss 3 media members losing their lives.

"Chicken" Rick Engle today used up his entire broadcast pretty much on the reporter story and calling the military liars.

I would love more analysis on the arab street, the jihadists entering Iraq, the post war plan for governance, what is going on in Jordan, and the West Bank...

Candlelight vigil is much more important though.

Shep is discussing emails he's getting from people who are spouting off "they deserve to die" attitudes. Those emails are wrong and Shep is pointing that out. I have never doubted that the troops were fired upon. You may not have seen my post a minute ago before you sent this last post, but I said I don't blame the tank for firing back when they located where the sniper came from.

On that note, I don't think it's right for the press to bitch about that building getting hit. That's just as wrong, and as Shep and the DOD have pointed out, it's a war zone, and military officials are in that building.

But, we must not stray way from the entire context of that statement Shep made and why he made it.

I believe the good guys (military)

as I posted earlier today after pretty chicken made his inch by inch turret comment..:

So let me get this straight according to pretty boy:

1) the journalists were filming the tanks.
2) the tank inched it's turret around inch by inch (not swung it around rapidly)
3) the tank had to raise its cannon towards the journalists(14 th floor).
4) the journalists stayed there with a cannon pointing at them that they had been filming aim at them.
5) Shots and sounds should be on the cameras tape or broadcast (if still in one piece).
6) the journalists failed common sense and became Darwin Award candidates.

Is that about it?

Did any of those journalists look like Peter Arnett by chance?
................

If anyone has read any sniper books..there was one famous shootout between two snipers at long distance, and the good guy (US) got the bad guy a split second before the bad guy fired because he saw the glint off the other rifle/scope and shot the guy right in the head through the scope, which indicated the other guy was aimed in on him..a split second mattered...I think that was One Shot one Kill with Carlos Hathcok..could be mistaken as its been awhile since I read that and letters from home and another sniper book..all were intriguing.
