Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

I'd like to start a campaign to get the US to drop out of the UN, with the caveat that we commit every dollar of our present rate of UN funding..over ONE BILLION EACH YEAR..to go instead to direct aid to Iraq for the next 10 years.....

Still, Bret should know better than to waste his two questions like that. Is Saddam alive? Give me a break, does Bret expect to get some kind of scoop from Rumsfeld? Like if Saddam was known to be dead, the government would hold back on releasing such information until such time that they are asked the question in a press conference. And then following up that asinine question with "Did you know Saddam was in that building?"

I considered their reports from Baghdad worthless..only a line or two to intimate restrictions..I had no interest in their bravery or pressure..I wanted real news and they weren't doing the news.If you are sneaking around enemy territory giving uncensored reporting..great but having a minder and feeling threatened is all about the journalist. The ones in the field under fire and eating MREs are the ones I respect."Hotel Palestine Under Fire" will be the most important war story to the Baghdad Bunch.

Dr. Bob reporting that "droves" of terrorists being rounded up by Marines...says this is vindication for the White House.
(Yes, he really really said that!)
Reports that big gun fights still going on. God be with our liberators!

Hi RetroK....!!! Good day, huh? I have been so busy grabbing stills and video clips that I have just now checked in with this thread.
I've been taking screen grabs and video clips since day one and also collecting photo's from AP sources, etc. DO check YAHOO for photo galleries. Also the MSNBC web site has a Five-Star photo slide show (super high quality) or smaller sized slideshow for dial-up folks.
Glued to FOX...catch ya later!
