Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...

You could see the fear on Brett's face as he suddenly realized, "Uh-oh, I just told Rummy to hold on."
I saw his Brett's red face but just missed the question. Thanks.

4400 went to who?

Now asking about Iran and Syria for God's sake! What a dum question that was. It was as if the reporter wanted Rummy to declare war on them on the spot and announce that B-1s and B-2's were already enroute to bomb their capitol cities. Most of the press corps seem to want Rummy to be portrayed as an out of control Dr. Strangelove type.
To: GraniteStateConservative
Actually, it doesn't make a big difference, except for the poor people in those districts, because the Dems haven't got a prayer of retaking the House anytime in the future...

And I'm sure they're cute. All of them.

I always feel a bit guilty for loving that Toby Keith song, as far as my children hearing that line with language we don't allow around here (grin)...but the song is so appropriate for this moment in time...and your photo was wonderful!

Syria better watch out. Rummy is doing some straight talking. Not giving short answers. Not happy with Syria's response to recent requests and warnings.

FYI..the first damaged B-29 ditched in the ocean alongside Iwo during the third day of the battle....a DDE providing the Marines with close in gun support picked up the crew....and you're correct on the estimate of saved aircrew, it's over 25,000...
To: cyncooper
On NTV cam: she said 'oh, so he is with Russians north of of Baghdad?' like she was repeating what was just said to her

HA! .. Lara screwed up her lines .. she ment to say the earth and instead said the oil .. she had to redo her lines
she was talking about an Iraqi man she meet today .. he talked about his family being born in iraq and tears running down his face .. she goes on about the iraqi children that were bombed and burnt in the hospitals and how the Marines have a lot of work ahead of them to convence the iraqi people ..
