"Wish You Were Here"

For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.

Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.

This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.

It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.

Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help!  If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

I heard a similar humanitarian hand-wringer earlier today. I also heard that the coalition expects the Baghdad International airport to start receiving supplies very soon.

Listening to Rummy on the radio. He sounded choked up when talking to the families of the brave marines and soldiers who have died.

I am almost sure Rumsfeld started to get choked up when he spoke of the deceased soldiers who "made it possible". Did you catch that?

I'll bet Rummy is being heard in Baghdad radio and possibly TV too

He just said we would pay rewards to that unsavories didn't escape and evidence wasn't destroyed.

It takes a big person to admit when they're wrong.

In the same way that Chater and Marks are celebrating WITH us, some need to be sure they don't fall for the sudden spirit of conservativism and patriotism on the part of some hosts and networks. They're just trolling for ratings.

Well, I am glad that Chater told us about the oppression he endured while trying to report with his "minders" hovering around and it is good that he managed to stay in Baghdad so that he could report freely as he did today! What are the excuses of the network anchors? Do they have minders? Well, maybe but they are probably the DNC.

That's exactly what I said in post #4284! I'm watching it on fox.

''spatula city'' was a commercial on UHF by Weird Al. Rush often plays the commercial on his web site during comercial breaks.

My opinion of these do-gooders has sunk quite low.

RUMMY IS ON TV!!!

It is on all network channels, too. Thank goodness because this is a wonderful and stirring statement.

Rummy telling the Iraqi people to tell their stories to the embedded reporters!

Who yelled at Peter Jennings???

Dog, I did not see the ABC coverage but it was reported on this thread that Jennings called the entire US military campaign in Iraq a "cakewalk." A retired general by the name of Joulwan came on ABC moments later and gave Jennings hell for using the term and treating our soldiers with casualness bordering on contempt.
