"Wish You Were Here"

For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.

Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.

This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.

It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.

Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help!  If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

To all who helped this get started and keep it running, thank you!

Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service™, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Dream on, little dreamer.....

Those Baptist ministers in your family (and in my chuch) have offered FAR more hope than John Lennon. Amen?

BTW, have you heard from the Buehler's? (my spelling?)

We're waiting for the war to end to gloat Big Time. Today it's wee gloating. The whisk is appropriate. Perhaps a pea shooter. Belly girl would bring ammo, pointed peas perhaps. (^;

"No-see-ums, too."

Hmm. I confess to spending some time stationed in South Carolina, Virginia and Louisiana, and therefore am acquainted with the delightful sand flea. But what, exactly, is a "No-see-um"?

Thanks - just wondering if any of the live feeds have anything worth watching - the Palm tree is not worth it. Is Chicken boy anywhere to be seen?

Nope - not Ft. Smith...about 90 miles north (aprx) in Siloam Springs. (John Brown University - and no - not THAT John Brown)

Gum

Yes, I know about John Brown University. Of course, the best part of Arkansas is the northwest region.

and the U.S. military has done more for peace than any peace demonstration.

and the US as a nation has done more for muslims and arabs, in particular, than any nation in history. Stick that in their CNN-AlJazz eyes.
