Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...

OMG .. You should hear Peter Jennings .. What a POS he is. He is basically saying the statue coming down wasn't that big of a deal. You have GOT to be kidding! ABCIA has sunk to a new low.

The marine had to explain to this dumbass reporter that the troop deployments didn't just start a month ago. It never ceases to amaze me that people that ignorant are working at the network level. LOL! We BagCam addicts became well-acquainted with Mr. Pretty Chicken. And yes, he's a dumba**s.

Here are the flags of modern Iraq.
The three-star flag actually predates the Ba'ath regime (it orginally represented Iraq, Egypt, and Syria, which were supposed to form the United Arab Republic). The Ba'athists changed the interpretation.

Perhaps WE should pay them a little visit...and 'splain a few things to them...just to help them understand the error of their ways...
I have an appropriate punishment to suggest.
Lock them in a room and force them to watch FOX 24/7 for at least 3 months.
No CNN, MSNBC, and certainly none of the leftist 3 networks. They would suffer withdrawal symptoms .... heh he heh.

I have been having problems with the msnbc cam for a while now, too. Bars and crazy shots and all kinds of stuff. Now I am getting the infamous palm tree shot.

I, for one, would like to get solidly behind Jennings if I can get him to bend over.

PEOPLE GOT TO BE FREE
All the world over, so easy to see
People everywhere just wanna be free
Listen, please listen, that's the way it should be
Deep in the valley, people got to be free
You should see what a lovely, lovely world this'd be
Everyone learned to live together, ah-hah-unh
Seems to me such an itty bitty thing should be
Why can't you and me learn to love one another?
All the world over, so easy to see
People everywhere just wanna be free
I can't understand it, so simple to me
People everywhere just got to be free
If there's a man who is down and needs a helpin' hand
All it takes is you to understand and to pull him through, ah-hah-unh
Seems to me we got to solve it individually, ah-hah-unh
And I'll do unto you what you do to me
Shout it from the mountain on out to the sea (out to the sea)
No two ways about it, people have to be free
Ask me my opinion, my opinion will be
Nat'ral situation for a man to be free
Git right on board now
Oh, what a feelin's just come over me
Love can move a mountain, make a blind man see
Everybody sing it now come on let's go see
Deep in the valley now, we ought to be free
See that train over there?
That's the train of freedom
It's about to 'rrive any minute, now
You know it's been'a long, long overdue
Look out 'cause it's a'comin' right on through

Another joke from Scott:
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Former U.N. weapons inspector Scott Ritter told the Iraqi National Assembly on Sunday that his country, the United States, "seems to be on the verge of making a historical mistake" in its calls for ousting Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. - Scott Ritter, Sept. 2002
We are making history, but definitely not a mistake!!

Mr. Chicken is well documented on these threads as not having a clue.
My favorite moment was the night he woke up, came up to the roof cam yawning, asked New York Liz to tell him what was going on, and THEN said he would "report" on it! It was the day we took the airport.
Someone said...and rightly so...."The networks shouldn't let us watch their sausage being made". LOL

I just saw some footage of Kurds celebrating in a northern city. It wasn't Mosul or Kirkuk, but they are celebrating. I would imagine they've taken to the streets here in Nashville, the US city with the highest population of Iraqi Kurds. Can't wait to see the local news tonight.
