A black military beret on his head, Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf has become the face and voice of Iraqi defiance.

Even as U.S. troops roamed through a presidential complex in the heart of Baghdad on Monday and as tanks rumbled down streets a few hundred meters away, Sahaf was confidently boasting to the world the invaders would be slaughtered.

"Of course he knows that he is talking to the American soldiers as well, so his words are part of the psychological war that's going on."

Baghdad Bob is more likely to evoke laughter than fear from US troops.

"I believe Sahaf exaggerates a little, but he needs to do that to reassure his people," said Hazem, a 25-year-old security guard in Cairo.

"So what if he lies, as long as he makes people feel better"

Sahaf was Iraq's foreign minister for almost a decade and ambassador to India, Italy and the United Nations.

Sahaf is just like other countrys' ambassadors to the UN, who lie as handily and make as much sense.

OK..there has to be a reason why we don't just roll a tank up behind this guy while he's delivering one of his gems.

We must WANT him there.

Any ideas?

Bobby sounds like the Democrats after the 2000 election.

Almost 2 1/2 years later and they still won't believe the results.

Just proves that like Iraq, the Dems are in a war against America!

I'm guessing we keep him there for comic relief.

"The Americans are committing suicide off the walls of Baghdad. We are crushing them beneath our boots." You can't make this sh*t up, though BBob can!

"Abdul-Aziz, a Saudi writer who would not give his last name, said: "Sahaf is vulgar but he is a brave liar... If the rest of the Iraqi government or army were this brave, they would inflict many more losses on U.S. and British forces."

Lying is honorable for arabs and muslims. So they admire him, as a 'brave liar.'

Lying is their denial, to avoid "humiliation" (again). Previous humiliations: 1948, 1956, 1967, 1973, 1991.

Add: 2003.

On the other hand the WTC attack on 11th Sep. 2001 gives arabs and muslims everywhere a real sense of victory. You saw the palis cheering.

WWIV is underway. About the outcome, one can reasonably predict more humiliation.

A few lying, sneaky little phuques will slip through for their terrorism--their only victories.

Go to DU or any number of liberal websites. The current strategy is a page out of 1992. Once they get done with the primaries, whoever emerges is going to be awarded "It's still the economy, stupid" for use as a tagline. Until then, Kerry, Liberman et al are hoping like heck that the economy doesn't turn around. Because they don't have any new ideas if it does.

Carville: "Yes, Mr. Sahef we are talking big bucks! For just a three hour radio show! "
Sahef: "Well, you know I already have a very secure long-term position."
Carville: "Oh, you're perfect, perfect! Just name your price!"

HAHAHAHAAA

I do wish we could superimpose a Marine on one of Baghdad Bill's broadcasts.

Has Bill been heard from today? Or was he at a certain restaurant last night?

"So what if he lies, as long as he makes people feel better".
Baghdad Bob lies, and we hope that Saddam, and his two sons keep on lying.................forever down, never to study war no more.

Yes, Yes. We are all feeling better.

Of course he knows that he is talking to the American soldiers as well, so his words are part of the psychological war that's going on.

What effect does he hope to have on the Americans? To make them laugh themselves to death?
