Thanks for the tea. I read on FR yesterday that Saddam had drained some huge marshland that was part of the Garden of Eden to starve out some of the people who were uprising against him a few years back.

Said that's what caused the sandstorms to be so devastating. They're thinking of putting the marshlands back now.

Yes, a 3000 year old marshland. I've heard a lot about it because Mr. Aziz Al-Taee, the president of the American Iraqi Council, is often a speaker at our rallies. And he makes that point, speaking directly into the CSPAN cameras as he tries to persaude liberals that they should join the cause and help to liberate Iraq: something like "And you who say you care about the environment, Saddam is a horrible environmental criminal. He has destroyed a 3000 Arab marshland." And then he goes on to invoke those in the left's human rights community to join his cause, etc. His message is: "Saddam commits crimes against humanity and as a member of the human race, you should support this war of liberation. Do not politicize this war."

The fertile crescent used to be more fertile, I guess. It would be great if they put the marshland back in.

I would love to see Baghdad.
