Bush: 'We are committed to the Road Map'

By THE JERUSALEM POST INTERNET STAFF

President George W. Bush said Tuesday that the US and Britain "are committed to the Road Map toward peace."

Speaking at a joint news conference with British Prime Minister Tony Blair in Hillsborough, Northern Ireland, Bush added: "Now this process must be carried forward."

Moments earlier Blair also reaffirmed Britain's commitment to the plan, which calls for achieving Palestinian statehood by 2005.

"It's a hopeful time. I believe we can make progress," Bush said.

Bush further said he is pleased with the designated Palestinian premier Mahmoud Abbas.

The Palestinians must solve the problem. Israel is on record of supporting a Palestinian state, but not a state with the current leadership... and a state that sponsors terror against Israelis.

The number one problem Israel has with the Road Map is that it only gives lip-service to reform. The President has not given lip-service to reform... but the Road Map, in its current form... says a state period in 5 years. With or without reform.

Now, if the Palestinians want to join the civilized world, then the Palestinians must dismantle Islamic Jihad, vote out Arafat, and stop the terror, etc.

To Israel, this must be done first, then negotiations can commence for statehood.

To me, this is not too much for Israel to ask for.

When you write that because Israel accepts aid from us, they must dance to our tune is asking Israel to commit national suicide. Whereas the West seems to be blind to the danger. Israel is not.

I'll do that... but some of the money are loans, Israel has repaid it.

How would you solve the problem of 3 million Palestinians in the occupied territory?

I'd start by telling the truth: Jordan is the occupied terrirory of the "palestinian" homeland. That is the reason for Jordan's existence.

Every aspect of virtually every high level discussion, peace, plan, or road map, is based on lies. The truth should be told, and when the "palestinians" respond with more acts of war, they should get what they've asked for.

The Jews gave up 78% of the Transjordan for peace in 1922. There should be no more rewards for Arab atrocities.

I am sorry but you are wrong...No nation lifted a finger to "PREVENT" the Holocaust. The US and allies finally stopped the Holocaust after it had cost over 6 million Jewish lives. You may disregard this arguement as simple symantics...but you'd be wrong.

To not capitsalize the word Jew may have been a simple oversight, some people are sensitive to certain "oversights". Especially when one sees that you say "The Holocaust never happened"...sarcasm or not some of us still believe 2+2=4.

Thanks again for this post Saber...I think if everyone would take the time to learn the actual history behind the issue, we wouldn't have to hear the Arab/Nazi line all the time.

Egypt has gotten an identical amount

This is incorrect. Egypt has received aid from the U.S., but is not even close to an identical amount.

You know darn well that developed nations have lower birthrates. There is s severe economic divide between PallieLand and Israel. On top of this Palestinians openly say they take revenge for 1948 by making as many babies as possible.

http://www.villagevoice.com/issues/0249/foa.php
Israel's population growth rate is a mere 1.48 percent. The Palestinians enjoy a growth rate of about 3.5 percent. But here's the clincher. The fertility rate is 2.54 children for a woman in Israel, 4.77 kids for our sisters in the West Bank, and 6.29 babies for our beleaguered cousins in the Gaza Strip. Those figures make the hair stand up on the heads of many Israeli politicians and keep researchers busy calculating future population statistics.

Demographic experts groan over the population growth rates in both Israel and the territories, which they say are among the highest in the world. They estimate that the population will double here every 17 years. They warn that such unchecked growth could have a horrific impact on the quality of life and that we may see future generations fleeing the prophesied "Calcutta environment." By 2015, the experts say, Israel's population will have increased 20 percent, the West Bank's by a hefty 56 percent, and Gaza's by an astounding 72 percent. That's a lot of babies.

A leading Israeli population authority, Arnon Sofer of Haifa University, calculates that by 2020 there will be 6.4 million Jews and 8.8 million Arabs in the area comprising Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza. That means a 58 percent Arab majority.

While Arafat puts his faith in the Arab womb, Israelis have counted on Jewish immigration to keep Israel a Jewish state. The arrival here of nearly a million Russian Jews has provided some demographic breathing space, but hardly enough to alter the inevitable.

Arafat has said the womb of the Arab woman is my weapon:

dulles
... passing year. Arafat well understands this, which is why he has often
said that his strongest weapon is "the womb of the Arab woman.". ...

Wow! What a bargain... As an American, I'm glad that we have given so much money to Israel.

I will continue to support Israel. I am proud that she is our ally. I am proud that it exists.

I don't think it has been a bad investment at all.

The way this Government spends and wastes money, I think $91 billion for a sure ally is so worthwhile.

If I am not mistaken the Arabs have tried on 3 seperate occasions to wipe Israel off the map and failed. All the monetary support came after these failed attempts by the Arabs to finish the job their Nazi masters started.

Correct?

do you really think that if Israel were left to it's own accord without backing from the US, that the Arabs would not unite just enough to try and wipe Israel off the face of the map??

That's a bit skewed. If the Arabs were left to their own devices, they'd once again try to wipe Israel off the map. They would start yet another war of aggression. The penalty for such wars should be the loss of land, it's the best deterrent. We should stop giving the Arabs more chances at genocide.

Whenever Israel gives up land to the Arabs for peace, they are always attacked by those Arabs from that land. The only exception, thus far, has been the Egyptian Sinai, and one wonders how long that would last without U.S. billions pouring into Cairo.

The result of American meddling is more to protect the Arabs than Israel; why shouldn't we favor the only free, civilized and democratic nation in the region?

Jesus Christ is the solution.

God sent his son to save our souls. Man is created equal. No one man is greater than another and no religious book will be used as a basis to corrupt another man.

Now go do the math for USA defending South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait (50 billion/year) and Europe. AND be sure to use the same bogus math you copied and pasted.
