On Tuesday, April 2, 2003, U.S. special operations forces slipped behind enemy lines and seized POW PFC. Jessica Lynch from the Saddam hospital nine days after her capture by Iraqi soldiers.

On Friday, May 16, American Family Association (AFA) will deliver THE WORLD'S BIGGEST THANK YOU CARD to the home of PFC. Jessica Lynch in Palestine, West Virginia. We want your signature on it.

To the folks who seem to have a problem with the "Thank You, Jessica" idea. (It seems their posts have somehow vanished.) I want to post this then I'm done with the topic.

THIS IS MY OPINION - ONLY!

I heard about this POW and what she endured. Broken legs - two of them - broken arm - crushed disk in her spine - the picture in my mind, that the news anchors painted, of some Iraqi saddist slapping her face - open handed, then back handed, the torture - the horror of KNOWING that you're going to die but NOT until - after being gruesomely tortured, raped and brutalized at least.

Can you imagine?

Now someone comes along and says let's acknowledge that we appreciate her service and we heard about what she's gone though and just want to say "Thank You, Jessica".

My answer TO ME is: How can I NOT? WHY WOULD I NOT?
IT DOESN'T COST A F&^%-ING CENT.
I mean - Why the HELL NOT!

Then I heard that she asked her family if the story of her rescue made the hometown paper! She has no idea of how proud America is of OUR SOLDIERS, the rallying point the story of her heroic rescue was. And her humility brings a tear to my eye!

If I have offended any soldiers - in any branch of any service - I apologize. Some how I don't believe THEY mind me saying "Thanks" to Jessica Lynch.

BTW: Just in case you are interested in the actual content of the offending e-card. It says:

From: Freedom loving Americans

Your bravery and sacrifice - representative of all our troops - to bring peace and freedom to the oppressed people of Iraq has made us all very proud to call ourselves Americans!

You are a symbol of all our troops, serving with dignity for a cause greater than yourself. Many others suffered injury, and some gave the ultimate sacrifice. To you and all the troops, we say "Thank you!"
