With the exception of the Rape of Nanking, I haven't read about human war related violations of civility, like those regularly employed by arabs and muslims. I thought they were the cradle of Western Civilization and Culture and really much better than us.

Whatever the level of development was back then, I believe they are slipping backwards.
They would have had to feed themselves, from their big fertile lands, and big rivers.
Now, supposedly 60 percent of the population relies on the UN for food. Have you seen farmlands on the TV?
Repeat this scenario across most states in the region, and you get a picture of people who ought to be "humiliated" for slipping backwards.
