Here's a suggestion: Maybe the daily thread could be constructed so the post numbers you can navigate by (say I want to go to post 251-300) are closer to the top? Just wondering. Thanks!

Maybe the daily thread could be constructed so the post numbers you can navigate by (say I want to go to post 251-300) are closer to the top? The "body" of a thread always pushes the "scroll" area down. This is only a problem when the "body" is shown - generally page 1 or when you post.
There should be a "click to scroll to commentary" link at the beginning of each page - clicking this should toake you immediately to the first post of the page - just above that will be the "scroll" area - hope this helps...
