100 reporters in the hotel and only David Chater saw the tank turn its turret on the hotel.

Someone tell Chater that unlike the Iraqi people and our troops, he doesn't have to be there. He's a journalist, in a combat zone. Things happen and that's the risk you take. If something does happen to you, tough cookies.

It depends on the speed of the shell. If it was traveling faster than about 600mph, then the shell would impact before the report would be heard.

I think after the war is over, Rupert might be performing some housecleaning over at Sky.
To: thedugal
Exactly. He's been anti everything from the very start. I just posed a question to TreeOfLiberty a couple posts back, you might have a thought on that also.
To: SirAllen
It seems more reporters are dieing today than Iraqis. Either one of two things are happening. Iraqis are baiting us while hiding amongst reporters or Iraqis are doing all the damage to blame on us. I just find it hard to believe that we would target reporters in 3 different instances at 3 different locations. If it smells fishy, there's usually a fish.Well, you left out the possibility that 3) The reporters are simply doing what they always do: TALKING ABOUT THEMSELVES.
To: NTNgod
I sure hope so. I'm sure Fox is going to get an earful.

But if you see it look closly it seems to come from the other direction than the tank if that tank was directly across from the hotel no way he could have made that mark and get inside the room, the angle is wrong. This seems it was shot from the same level or slightly above the balcony. Are there any buildings nearby that are around that height?
To: All
The large piece of plaster that is missing from the outside of the building could also be a result of an interior BOMB going off. Interior pressure causes the walls to expand (until the pressure is relieved by the windows and doors being blown out), and that causes the plaster to crack and fall off. Like if you put mud on your cheek, let it dry, then puffed your cheek out... the mud would fall off.
I'm still voting on INTERIOR BOMB.
To: Tree of Liberty
But wouldn't it be heard whizzing by? I still would like to know which side of the hotel was hit. If it was the front then that, in itself, is proof that Chater needs to be fired.

I hope the military analysts on Fox tear Chater a new one I do also .. what the dude from Sky News said was out of line and he has NOTHING to back up what he was saying
Especially since he said he NEVER saw a tank fire a shot at the hotel

That's the 2nd A-10 in just a few hours. Thankfully both pilots were rescued.

Who is this sane military analyst on Fox making the first smart statement of the morning? "In New York, reporters duck when a shot is fired. At the Palestine Hotel, they all come out with their cameras to get pictures." To hell with the lot of 'em. If they get hit, that's the risk they took.
To: hmmmmm
From the video of the Abu Dahbi reporter that was giving a live report when whatever happened, you can tell it hit the EAST side of the hotel.
We are WEST of the hotel... physically impossible for any US tank to have done that unless we have come up with a curving shell.
Chater is a liar.
