I seem to remember an "announcment" by Saddam a while back, the one with all the quick camera cuts and the white background. I could have swore I heard dishes clanking in the background, I used to be a waiter and at the time I said to myself that it sounded an awful lot like a restaurant. Now we've bombed a restaurant. That was one of the dumbest thing I've heard in the war coverage yet...

This just in. Saddam and his sons were seene entering the restaurant. Four 2,000 pound JDAMs were also seen to enter the building at a high rate of speed. A large crater is the only remainder of the restaurant. No one was seen to have left the building. We don't know why. More later.

I feel the same way. You'll know right away tomorrow if they in fact "got him." Once Saddam is dead the whole thing will unravel in about 24 hours. There is only one thing the Iraqis fighting for him fear more then death at the hands of the US. It's death at the hands of Saddam.

Bush and company have known since the 2nd or 3rd day of the war that Saddam was probably alive. If they have been tracking his special cell phone, then they knew. This was a ruse about him possibly being dead to get him to "come out in the open". That is what Saddam did on Friday. Where he was on the video on Friday is within a couple of blocks of where the hit was today.

My guess is they are already 99% certain he is dead, but you will NOT hear any top US figures say anything official for some days. They will NOT need to find a body or DNA to confirm it. We will be able to tell in lots of other ways.

In my opinion, I think they got him this time. There are too many confident US officials speaking out tonight. Much more than on the 19th. They said they knew what floor they were on in this building, the number of people and that they were within 4 feet (meters) of each other. They had FOUR (4) different intelligence leads they were there at this time. 3 on the ground and 1 electronic. I think they may have gotten him.

If they have gotten him tonight, and we get the WMD evidence in a couple of days, this will strike fear into every terriorist leader in the world. Bush can just about get whatever he wants from any world leader. Otherwise he will sic the special ops and military on you. This is a new kind of war.
