Not only that, but I hadn't thought about the dangers of brogdingnagian coaltions being one-a-decade phenomena. The US would use up so much international capital as to limit further action during the recuperation. With allies like the Aussies and the UK, who see themselves at risk as much as the US, the political capital is enhanced, not drained.

And who knows but that after their humiliating nonparticipation, the next conservative Canadian government may even overcompensate getting back into relevance.
