This poor girl obviously needs to be saved from the unjust Bush war-for-oil program. She must have been one of the lucky few that our bombs didn't kill. /sarcasm

That is one seriously cute kid. Thanks for posting the photo!A real cutie ... notice how crisp & clean her head scarf is and the man standing behind her ia wearing a clean new looking polo shirt. They're evidently turned out in their best for the Marines!

I wonder where that flag came from? I doubt that little American flags are available at the local market. Were they brought in by American psych-ops to be distributed for the photo op?My thought exactly, .......and, it doesn't matter. This girl didn't have to have a guy put to her back to get her to smile and wave this flag.
Funny how things work out. Our guys can't raise an American flag for fear of being viewed as "imperial occupying stormtroopers" on the "Arab Street". Yet, common Iraqi civilians will be flying the Red, White, and Blue (American, not French!) everywhere soon.

When I served in Bosnia, I carried dozens of tiny flags like that in my Humvee -- along with bags of candy and cans of soda for the kids.
