Heroes

Heroes still walk the land
From Afghan mountains to Iraqi sands

Their country needs them, so they heed the call
If need be, they'll give it all

Where would we be, without this kind?
No doubt about it, we'd be in a bind

As they fight our foes in planes and tanks
We can pray for them, and offer up our thanks

When they're attacked by men that lie
Let us guard their flanks, we must really try

Someday soon, they'll come marching home
May they find much more than this simple poem

Thank you.... that poem was truly soul stirring. I do hope you don't mind that it is on it's way (via e-mail) to my hubby and 7 others who have been in the Afghan desert now for 7 months and counting... And I know they will appreciate your thoughtful words. Thank you again...
