Good Morning.

This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.

It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.

Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help!

To all who helped this get started and keep it running, thank you!

Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service™, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Well, I took a short nap, and awoke to Neil Cavuto interviewing some guy named Ullman who was pushing for France and Germany and the UN to be involved in the reconstruction of Iraq!

Was this Harlan Ullman, Mr. Shock and Awe?

Funny thing is, in a few years, Baghdad may well replace Paris as a popular travel destination...

I suspect it will. Folks will want to visit the palce they saw on teevee. The Iraqis will enjoy the tourism. Prices will be reasonable, the destination exotic. Plus, revenge is a dish best served cold.

Reporters were going to go to the war fronts whether they would have been embedded or not. Please don't take up a burden on that account.

Very true. It's just a bit of a shock to realize sometimes news can travel too fast. Knowing that something has happened makes for an awfully long and nerve-racking wait.

Thanks very much for the prayers. Please keep them coming.

The sections of the new Six Flags Baghdad:

Freedom Square
Bush Gardens
Lara's Mountains Rollercoaster

Any other ideas?

tuning in here for the first time today.

we seem to be all over baghdad, but no information about direct assaults on any of the bunkers? this endgame is playing out strangely, I wonder if Tikrit will be where the action is.

He fought Saddam, in his own way, he paid the price. Others are now fighting Saddam and some -- just a very few, thank G-d -- are paying an even higher price. Both are honored by having fought for that same good goal. It is a great goal, it was a great goal.

How about a tank ride from Kuwait to Baghdad? The night that came on, I was absolutely in awe. Watched it for hours. Amazing.

A man's home is his castle? Not if he's Saddam Hussein. Coalition forces have sauntered into Baghdad and taken control of two of Saddam Hussein's presidential palaces, Reuters reports. "I do believe this city is freakin' ours," the New York Post quotes Capt. Chris Carter of Watkinsville, Ga., as saying at one of the palaces. The Post notes that some American soldiers "said they planned to enjoy a shower in Saddam's palace." So much for the Baath Party.
