Thanks, I you are, of course, right about Saratoga. I couldn't think of that off the top of my (pointy) head. The story behind his treason is interesting IMO. He was a patriot, but from what I understand, lost heart due to the course the war was taking and thought a negotiated peace would have been preferrable to where he thought things were heading as it was.

Thank G-d he was wrong, but it is unfortunate, as I think we could use all the intellegent commanders we could handle at that point in the war.

G-d was on our side. Praise him always. The hope that came into the world when the U.S. was birthed is almost unimaginable. Having spent a great deal of time studying times that led to it, and the Great Men who were its intellectual forbears, I can't help but see the hand of our creator in feeding us just what we needed to be sure that the American Revolution would happen and be successful.

I've said this many times, but it bears repeating... A thousand years from now, students at University may very well not be terribly familiar with the United States as a country, but I'd be willing to bet serious change that they will know the Declaration of Independence, and the U.S. Constitution.

I believe both documents were divinely inspired, especially the former.
