My guess is that many, many more Iraqis will be far more inclined to search out and kill ex-Saddam henchmen and prison personnel than will want to harm us. I'm not sure I agree. I don't think there is any doubt that the Iraqis will be better off without Saddam, and will be glad to see him go (of course, there are many, many countries in that same boat...are we going to attack them all).
But I think in the long run, they will grow to resent a permanent US presence...just as we would resent the long-term presence of a foreign power in our own country, irrespective of its benevolence.

Your absolutely right, if we do let the UN, the Germans and the French into it, it will be a mess. On the other hand maybe we could do quickly and efficiently by not bothering with all that, since it's never worked.
