[history]
Unhappy with the mayor's policy banning yellow ribbons on municipal property, ralliers marched through town Saturday, tacking the offending emblems on everything from the front door of the town hall to the mayor's car.
Led by Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa, about 100 marchers left ribbons along the main street, then affixed dozens more to a pine tree when they reached an old school building that now serves as town hall for this central New Jersey borough's 522 residents.

What IS it with NJ? I can stand on my roof and see it across the Delaware, and it may as well be another country.

That was a volunteer that used a extra mask and sign along with a BDU camo shirts with the epaulets abner made for Saddam.
She did a great job as "Saddam" and got to keep the mask. I also gave one away to young boy who was with a British family. Mom was working the rally as a news photogropher so Dad and son were in Hegyi's store hanging out. He was intensely watching me outfit Saddam, so I asked if he'd like souvenier. He was shy and at first feined interest, but was all smiles when I gave him a mask. I opened the eyes and ears on it a little.
The one mask I left two Fridays ago when this all started has been claimed by one of the neighborhood kids who's about 12 and he wears it around town. That one has "BUDDY" on the forehead.
The epaulets were red (matching Saddam's beret) with yellow markings. Those markings showed Saddam's "rank" and consisted of alternating stars and peace symbols.

The crowd whooped and cheered when Sliwa bedecked the hood ornament of the mayor's Lincoln with a big yellow bow. I missed out on that. Stayed behind to pack up the PA system I brought along. Turns out that the systems that was to have been there didn't show.
Was a great day. I taped the speeches directly from the PA, so they'll be as good as one could get. Curtis has his and perhaps he can use some of it Monday on the show.
Only got a few photos. My battery was low, so my camera was balky.

The war is having one unexpected effect. Finally, finally, Americans who love their country and appreciate the military are starting to stand up to the America-hating, military dissing idiots -- and we're showing up the idiots for what they are: ingrates, bullies, traitors, moral-equivalancy dullards.

You missed a good time. This was "Mister Smith Goes To Washington" type of stuff.
BTW, Mayor Buddy drove past. He was in a LARGE city flatbed that had a salt spreader on the back. The windows were up and a city employee drove, but people recognized Buddy riding shotgun.
Like the Times Square Rally, fire trucks couldn't stay away. I recall at least two different ones passing. For sure, one had American flags one it, one of which was pretty big. I was busy when the first past, so I can't say one way or another about that one.
I don't think either was coming or going to or from fires, they just went past.

Good work, guys! Putting the yellow ribbons back into community life.

Dr Rauol, have you changed masks? LOL!! When I read this, I betted that Ironman had something to do with it!!
To: KneelBeforeZod
When I first read of this, I was outraged that the people of this town took this kind of tyranny sitting down. 100 people out of 522 is an UPRISING!.
My fiance lives in a small South Carolina town of about 470 people. There are yellow ribbons everywhere. Even on property that belongs to the people.
Mayor Doo Doo Head forgets that "government property" is also the people's property. After 22 years in office, I guess he's forgotten that he doesn't own the government...the people do. That is too dang long for anyone to be in control. I hope the people help him find another job next election.

This march made the Philly local coverage and the national Fox News crawl - great work.....
To: KneelBeforeZod
He then added, "We do not allow anything on government property without permission from the governing body." Jerk. Government property is our property and the governing body is us!

Elsewhere, a protester wearing a Saddam Hussein mask carried a sign, "Mayor Tyler is my Buddy." Sounds like Dr.Rauol's MO.
