Shakespeare?! Shakespeare?! That Eurocentric trash?! Now, if you want your kids to really learn something valuable, might I suggest a healthy dose of Afro-American studies? The study of our multicultural diversity is the key to a more sophisticated, better educated and more productive working class!

Precisely. I agree. English class is where you should be exposed to classic literature, not film.

I'm also amazed at how quickly these so-called teachers include works in the canon. You have to give a novel at least 50 years to see if it's going to survive before you make it required reading in a classroom setting. To that end, Toni Morrison should still be merely a curiosity.

I'm sure these kids barely know Shakespeare.
