Prior to WWII the French were the masters of manipulation and deception.

I guess all the bright ones were either killed in WWII or fled the country.

What is left is idiots like Chirac whose diplomatic grandstanding pointed the arrow of guilt directly at his forehead.

Cut off all foreign aid and demand reparations to the family of every American GI killed or injured in this war.

If they don't produce then end trade relations with them until they do.

We should not be played for fools.

There are hundreds of countries in the world that it's perfectly legal for France or China or Russia to sell arms to, and there are plenty of those countries, or simply arms dealers, willing to make money by then reselling those arms to Iraq and smuggling them in. I doubt any of the original manufacturing countries really care or are concerned about it, but it's also likely true that Jacques Chiraq wasn't sitting around directly signing orders to sell weapons to Iraq in the past few years.

I can agree with this reasoning to an extent, but Chirac had plenty of incentive to look the other way. Every time France so much as hiccuped about a possible anti-Iraq vote on the Security Council for the past 12 years, Saddam cancelled, or threatened to cancel, a major contract. The same may be said of any other country that had major contracts with Iraq.

MSNBC was reporting that some of the weapons found were very old, including some US-made land mines that were left over from the Iraq-Iran war. OTOH, the suspected chemical sprayers with Cyrillic stampings looked new. The age of the weapons is important.

"Notice that the weapons were not from the US, UK, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Norway, Sweden, Holland, Denmark, Iceland, Canada, Cameroon, Botswana, Monaco, ... I think I detect a trend here."

From article: Sergeant in Karbala (from the 101st) stated that most of the weapons they were finding were from France and Jordan.

Probably in this place most of what they found were from France and Jordan, but the other night I heard a report that they had found a large stock of weapons and they said they were from everywhere, even the US.

The reason France didn't want to be a part of the war is taht they thought all the weapons they had sold Iraq might be used and they knew they had sold them a lot of illegal material and too many guns.

The U.S. State Department ought to call a HUGE press conference displaying said weapons that were MADE IN FRANCE.

Let's embarrass the hell out of Chiraq AND France.

The French Army lost 1.5 million dead defending Paris in WWI, and in WWII it lost more men killed in six weeks against the Nazis than did the U.S. Army in Europe during the entire war. Give it a rest.

So what? Who cares about how inept the French are as a military force?

They are Saddam-lovers now, and their fingerprints are going to be found all over Iraq and Hussein's regime.

More likely, they're coming from France and labelled "Jordanian Armed Forces" to conceal the fact that they were going to Iraq.

The irony of it. The "peace-loving" French making and selling arms. They should have sold Madam Sadaam lingerie.

I, for one, will never give it a rest.

The stinking, ungrateful, French PIGS that, through their backstabbing delays in the UN, have cost American lives by allowing Saddam more time to prepare his defences. It is CLEAR to ANYONE who cares to use their BRAIN that this was done because of financial interests that France has with Iraq.

I am ashamed that I wasted three years in high school learning the disgusting language.

J'en ai ras le bol! Va te faire foutre!

There is indeed plenty to criticize the French for, so much so that I think it is not necessary to make stuff up. Moreover, France is rapidly becoming a Moslem country. In another generation or so, the national language will be Arabic, and most people living there will have little connection with what we know as France.

France is not Old Europe. France is New Algeria -- with hundreds of nuclear weapons.

The French make weapons? Never used I presume. Do they still come with the "pop up" white flag that activates after the first shot is fired?
