Oh how funny --

Just saw a report on The News Hour (Jim Lehrer), with an LA Times reporter who is in Baghdad. He said:

The target of the explosion that was so close to the Palestine Hotel was a local Police Station! I guess we didn't like that stupid Police Parade. LOL (per the LA Times reporter in Baghdad)

Asked about the discrepency in reports about who controls Baghdad Airport, he said that Baghdad Bob had promised several times to take reporters out to the Airport to prove that it was in Iraqi hands, but that has never happened. He said the LA Times has imbedded reporters who are AT the Baghdad Airport, "So I'd say the balance of truth is on the Coalition side."

Hello??? THE BALANCE of truth??? I'd say it's a little more than that.

Also asked about CentCom reports that we are inside the city vs. Baghdad Bob's claims that we are not. He said no one he has talked to has seen any of our troops, so no one believes it (I got the feeling HE didn't believe it either). But he had clearly seen RG and Fedayeen and heavy equipment coming into the city: Tanks, machine gun emplacements, manning of all the sandbag posts, etc. So "it is clear that they intend to make a strong effort to defend the city and turn this into urban combat."

Since when did truth have anything to do with the perceptions of the Islamic public? This will be forever recorded as "the time that Iraq took back the airport" whether it happened or not. Look at how IRNA writer of it: Baghdad status still normal on 17th day of war.
" Based on the news heard in Baghdad, the invading forces have suffered heavy casualties during the retaking of the airport by the Iraqi forces, so that they were forced to retreat from it, but they later pounded the airport from the air and the land."

That's not Baghdad bob writing, he has cousins in Iran and every other part of that region, and sympathetic dull-minded masses throughout the Islamic world.
