Has this been posted yet? Regarding the British and Basra:

"One tactic is to broadcast recorded "tank noises" and fool the Iraqis into believing a military formation is heading their way.

"Speakers mounted on Land Rovers play the sound of Challenger 2 tanks at ear splitting volumes.

"On one occasion, the recording forced three Iraqi mobile artillery units with mortars—hidden behind a concrete hut—into making a retreat. The units were immediately exposed to a barrage of fire from British artillery."

If it has, I haven't seen it, but I haven't been here too long tonight. Thanks for posting it.

In the Sahara during the North Africa Campaign the Brits (me late neighbor being one of them) would have the bagpipers pipe during the dark of night. They usually could get the Italians to run, and even sometimes of the Germans. Imagine being holed up in the bleak desert and hearing the pipes wailing away.

Another thing he said they would do is to sleep buried in the sands during the day, breathing thru tubes. The sand kept them cool and hidden. So he said.

"tank noises"

I love the Brits. The video of that statue being pulled over was yesterday and it's reported that they dragged it back to their laager as spoils of war.
