Thanks. Just read it and am feeling a little of the emotion the rescue team must have had. And am so glad she is safe.

Has MSNBC rerun Chip Reid's report? I'm not sure where he is--north of Baghdad, I believe. He said that they were in a firefight with some "to the death" fighters. When the fight was over, they found that about half were NOT from Iraq, but from Yemen, Sudan, Syria (there were two other countries, but I can't remember which ones). He also said they found huge wads of cash on the bodies. They also discovered an "international training camp." He didn't know if the camp was new or had been there for a while. He reported they didn't know if these were mercenaries (the money paid to them by their governments) or from another source. The words "al Qaeda" weren't mentioned, but implied.
This happened when I was unpacking the groceries (it's the servant's day off, you know), so I didn't post it at the time.

I guess, Achmed is an avid 'Baghdad Breezer'.

Yep. That's why they put him up on the roof.

I just barely caught part of that report too. Heard about the $$. Maybe they will run it again. There doesn't seem to be too many stories today and the rerun cycle is fairly frequent.

and I've tried to think of another country's military coming into my home town....frightening....unless it can't be more frightening to live under such an evil man as Saddam and his thugs...That is what has brought me to tears--in addition to other stories. When I read and hear about innocent Iraqis happy to see us. EPWs, for crying out loud, HAPPY to be prisoners of the coalition!
What would it take for me to be welcoming an armed force from another country with open arms and tears of relief and joy? I shudder to think.

just on msnbc, it showed brit troops taking prisoners who were fingered by the locals as being bad guys. they had bags on their heads and handcuffed...and were taken off in a truck. (some 70 odd they said.)
the news reporter indicated the brits were being abusive but the brits said "we came in firm; we came in fair; they were warned."

OK, that does it! As soon as I can tear myself away from my computer, I'm going out to buy a little TV to set by my desk so I can read and watch at the same time.
