[history]
Soldiers with the 507th Maintenance Company did not take a wrong turn in the early morning hours of March 23 when Iraqi soldiers ambushed them near Nasiriyah, a congressman who talked with two sergeants in the trapped vehicles said Thursday.

Well, here's some more information. Judge for yourself if you feel any of it rings true.

There are so many versions of this story floating around now I think I'll wait for the book(s) to come out.

How would anyone here know if it "rings true?"

I never believed the wrong turn theory. With at least two women among them, they would have been forced to stop and ask directions.

The attack by Iraqi soldiers took place in the early morning hours, according to the two sergeants. They said they immediately grabbed M-16s, leaped off their vehicles and jumped into a ditch beneath the bridge as a hail of gunfire littered the air.My wife said she wondered if Jessica Lynch broke her ankles jumping out of her truck.

Broken legs, broken arm, back injury...if it had been ONE, or even TWO, of those, I'd say maybe. But having all that happen just from jumping off a truck...hmmm. I guess we'll find out eventually.

Does anybody remember the name of the other woman? She was/is a Panamanian citizen.
I just learned of her nationality yesterday morning.
To: tubebender
Not from a deuce and a half but if she jumped off a bridge to the ground below, she could have suffered all those injuries.

Shauna?

They probably stopped to ask the Iraqis, that's the problem.

Thank you. That sounds about right. I was thinking of "Sashanna" (sp). I'm interested because I live in Panama. Quite a few Panamanians join our forces. It was strange when a few Panamanians were among our forces to pound the wazoo out of Noriega's forces and then went home for the weekend to visit their families. Luckly Panamanians have a great sense of humor.

Just so we all understand: Random House Dictionary says:
he-ro (heer'oh) n. pl. <-roes;> for 5 also <-ros>
1. a man of distinguished courage or
ability, admired for his brave deeds and
noble qualities.
2. any person who has heroic qualities or
has performed a heroic act and is
regarded as a model or ideal.
3. the principal male character in a story,
play, film, etc.
4. a. (in antiquity) an individual
possessing godlike prowess and
beneficence who often came to be
honored as a divinity.

Also, Jessica Lynch may have been given some horrific beatings once she was taken to her destination as a POW. Rush commented on this today. He mentioned that women sometimes are stripped naked and then hung by their ankles...and then...what ever is done to them. This would explain the ankle fractures and the rest to beatings...as I see it in my humble opinion.
