A caller to G. Gordon Liddy show today
Time to call Paul Harvey's staff in Chicago.
Bose product are big advertizers on his show.
My cousin, an electrial engineer who works for a sound/acoustic supply company,
says that real purists/acoustic engineers regard Bose products as over-priced/over-hyped
and trading on Bose's MIT connection.
I don't know if my cousin (otherwise a "regular guy") is being an elitist...
but he says that Bose gets routinely dissed at meetings of electrical engineers.
BUT...maybe this is just jealousy over the $$$$$ that Bose has probably made off his work.

Nope. Your cousin is correct.
Everything Bose makes is pure junk other than the Wave Radio.
It is the UNIVERSAL opinion of audiophiles (except for a handful of trolls) that Bose is junk.
They are the perpetrators of a brilliant marketing campaign and their market is people who don't know any better.
And it's not audio snobs who think that anything less than $5,000 speakers are junk; the point is there are speakers CHEAPER than Bose speakers from a variety of quality manufacturers like B & W, Paradigm, etc. that are CLEARLY superior to Bose.

Your cousin is correct, Bose is better at MARKETING than engineering. I am not saying all their stuff is crap, but most of it is vastly overpriced. Those tiny speakers they make? The drivers they use can be purchased for a few bucks. "Direct Reflecting", "Acoustic Waveguide", blah blah, its nothing new.
Now, compared to your average consumer electronics, Bose IS probably better, but not by the price. For the same price, you can get something that sounds alot better.
