Why would a "spy plane" show a light? Trailing our coat in front of the Iraqi gunners perhaps? For that I'd use something cheaper.

I think this was something intended to be seen, and draw fire. There's been a lot of talk about the regime reserving it's anti-aircraft capabilities in Baghdad, and we need to find out where it is.
