See the post by sarcasm. It is quite revealing as to how people could "lose their jobs" and still have their own business---it all involves merely answering certain questions, and employment stats have nothing to do with taxes as I think you suggested.

Unemployment stats have nothing to do with taxes. Unemployment stats are based on UI claims as I did state and surveys as Sarcasm posted.

Jobs (which are different than unemployment) are based on employer filings.

While they come in the same report, for the 3rd time do not mix jobs or employment with unemployment. They are two different measurements.
