I'll comment. A tragic loss; he was a forceful voice for good. God be with his family.

I'm fed up with seeing journalists who get killed during war being portrayed as anything more than what they are, opportunists. What a revolting commentary you have provided.

What a revolting commentary you have provided. Why revolting? I just said what millions think and know to be true.
To: O.C. - Old Cracker
I hope you get better soon.

Why revolting? I just said what millions think and know to be true. Maybe, maybe not. But the rest of us have managed to keep our POLITICAL thoughts out of this today because we genuinely liked this man.
Obviously you're incapable of seeing that your remarks are inappropriate at this time.

Saying something has already been posted doesn't change the fact that this post has been made, but rather suggests that the poster is somehow ignorant for reposting the item. If you at least post a link to the article then it gives a frame of reference. Regards.

What a revolting commentary you have provided. One more thing. Would my comments have irritated you nearly as much if the reporter killed had been someone along the lines of a Peter Arnett? I loathe Arnett and I don't even know him. On the other hand, I appreciate much of Michael Kelly's politics, but I didn't know him either. If you truly believe that these guys are heroes and not opportunists, as I suggested, then we disagree.

Why revolting? I just said what millions think and know to be true. No, you did not.
Michael Kelly was an honorable man and a wonderful writer embued with moral clarity.
He was a journalist who wanted to document the war, not an "opportunist". He was a husband and father and your comments were uncalled for.

You're sick.

I didn't mean to offend.Apologies.No need to apologize, MEG.
Duplicate posts are a pain and should be avoided by using "search" first.
But sometimes they happen anyway, especially with newly breaking news.
And it is no big deal for the Admin Mods to either delete or lock the duplicates.
Nevertheless, I think Vindibudd's "blah, blah" retort was cavalierly disrespectful.
He is the one who should be apologizing.

This is a real shame. Kelly was a great reporter and columnist, and his opinions were very much in the spirit of those expressed on FR. Kelly was a conservative, a family man, and a good, solid thinker. I will miss his columns greatly.
As for O.C., your comments are uncalled for and despicable.

If you truly believe that these guys are heroes I see. You are one who takes a comment and makes leaps and bounds conclusions. My noting your comments were revolting translates in your mind to my deeming "these guys" heroes.
I do not consider Kelly an "opportunist". I am not lumping "these guys",I am speaking of an individual. You want to lump journalists together, as revealed by bringing up Arnett.

You are right, it was disrespectful. I am rather bored with the "Already Posted Cops" There are admins and they can do their job well. Somethimes it is not readily apparent that something has been posted. Numerous times I have searched keywords and not found and article and then I post it and the next 10 comments are "already posted". Don't you all have anything better to do? Michael Kelly was a good conservative voice in the liberal media and I will miss him.
To: O.C. - Old Cracker
I can only imagine what the media would be reporting if these journalists were NOT embedded with the troops. The embedded reporters at least offer a dose of reality to what, I am sure, would be strident inaccuracies emanating from the 'stay at home' journalists fevered imaginations.
Just look at what the morons ask at the Centcom and Pentagon briefings. Now imagine those being the ONLY reports we are getting on this war.
For their courage in even taking on this task, I, for one, salute those who are giving us the embedded reports.
