I've always believed that anything "processed" is basically bad. Organics just grow as they were intended to do. The coca leaf by itself isn't such a bad thing, but process it into cocaine and you've got a whole new ball game.
Barley, malt, hops, various grains...process them and...well, you get the picture.
Now grapes, on the other hand, well, you get the picture. Everything you need all in one tiny package, even the yeast in the skin for fermentation.
