This is the reason why I only trust the reports from the troops on the ground rather than the ones from the blow dried media or the perfumed princes at the Pentagon.
Grunts rule.

Maybe he would "feel" better if there was more parity...50% iraqi 50% american bodies.

"When do we know when it's over?" one Sgt. Scott said. "You could have sent two men in to kill Saddam Hussein. It's been said that there's been hundreds of assassination attempts on Saddam. I imagine Saddam has killed more Iraqis than the US forces did there just in retribution for those attempts.

You could have sent two men in to kill Saddam Hussein...or 1 guy could have accepted exile and there would have been NO deaths.

Hopefully most of the routed Republican Guards are Sunni, not Shiite cannon fodder who Saddam ordered to their death.

"When do we know when it's over?" one Sgt. Scott said. "You could have sent two men in to kill Saddam Hussein. Why did we have to kill so many people? There were so many deaths today." The people who fight for Saddam are like a cancer that need to be removed. Many of these people are evil and inflicted terror on the prople of Iraq. There are innocent people that are being killed, but I have a hard time feeling to bad about those willingly fighting for this tyrant.

Perhaps the message is starting to sink in.
Don't mess with US.

It seems a dumb statement, but it is not. Americans are not natural born killers but they can be trained to kill. The aftermath is hard to behold. It is truly amazing that kill ratios can reach the levels of hundreds to one or thousand plus to zero. Give the kid a break

You could have sent two men in to kill Saddam Hussein. Why did we have to kill so many people? Because getting Hussein isn't enough. Every cell in the cancer of his regime has to be removed. Every Iraqi who chooses to resist and fight to preserve the regime deserves a one-way ticket to hell.

This article's headline theme ("so many deaths") will, in various ways, soon become one of the major new types of criticism leveled by the world media against the victorious coalition forces/Bush/Blair. Our winning the war militarily in a quick and decisive manner will never cause the liberal pundits to admit the error of their many past predictions, hand-wringings and declarations - they will simply move to new angles of criticism. The lies and distortions from the world-wide left will continue and will amplify - repeated publicly in their subtler forms by leading U.S. democratic leaders and leftist-regime sympathizers.
We might just as well just get used to their spewing garbage - while at the same time we thank God that we have a President who is willing to take the risks required of principled leadership!

Excellent point, and it's a point that is not being made often enough in the media. Even if we had successfully knocked off Saddam, next in line would be the younger son. Then if we killed him, it would be the older son, who's arguably even worse than his brother or father. Then if we killed him, it would be some other Saddam copycat.
This war had to be fought, and anybody who chooses to fight for Saddam must be eliminated. In fact, the more enemy forces we kill, the easier life will be in post-war Iraq. I sympathize, however, with our soldiers who have to do all the dirty work and see it close-up. It's easy to understand a quote like the one in the article, considering what our troops are going through on a daily basis.

Maybe he would "feel" better if there was more parity Probably wouldn't feel very good about that, true, but it did sound like sort of a turkey shoot, and how very sad that probably/possibly many of the gunned down Iraqi soldiers were forced to fight against their will.
To: Movemout
I agree, and wonder how many of ANY nationality are natural born killers?
To: Eowyn-of-Rohan
The idea that we could send in a two man team and get Saddam is laughable. Gee, don't you suppose that's been tried one or two times by Iraqis themselves>
The part of the article that disturbed me was that the medic was firing as well. They shouldn't do that except in self-defense. In a one-sided turkey shoot, they shouldn't be firing.

Whoaaaaa.....That is not what he meant at all!! Have you ever been on a battlefield? Have you ever smelled death? Burning flesh, mixed with oil and grease. There is no glory in battle. This is not some
G-DD@M* movie!!! No one wants to kill, unless he is homicidal maniac. Our troops are not that!!
WOW!!! WHAT AN IGNORANT THING TO SAY!!

I imagine Saddam has killed more Iraqis than the US forces did there just in retribution for those attempts. Estimates of 1.5 muslims murdered at the hands of Saddam Hussein & thugs; est. 40,000 - 60,000 Kurds murdered at the hands of Saddam Hussein & thugs.
Saddam Hussein & thugs: est. thousands dead....good news.
