Yeah, we have challenges in this country. But we've always had challenges.
Overall, my view of our current situation isn't as dark as yours -- I think we'll be okay. I see some good trends.
I do have dark fears for the future of Iraq and the rest of the Middle East. I don't know if they're willing to adopt some basic ideas like tolerance, freedom, prosperity, respect for individuals, the rule of law, etc. I HOPE that things can improve in that part of the world, but I'm also worried that their culture of failure, death, ignorance, pain and cruelty is so ingrained that it will be hard for them to shake off.
In any case, I'm afraid Mohammed may never be safe in Iraq. I hope we'll offer this hero a nice bank account, and a chance to live anywhere in the world he chooses -- he's earned no less.

Mohammed and his nurse wife are in American protective custody. as WW so beautifully stated, he is the 'Good Samaritan' of whom Jesus taught. His courageous effort is bountless on a plane we can scarely comprehend. He is a hero as well as a good man, a fellow human being of whom we have taken note during our collective journey. I trust we will not soon forget him. Love is a universal language, transcending cultures. He showed great love.
