The minister believes in "God." That is to whom he was praying. It is right and proper not to pray to that God, in whom nearly all believe, in the name of Jesus Christ, in whom many (including I) believe, but not all.
It was just needlessly provocative, and the minister owes an apology.

They didn't hide the name of Jesus Christ when the country was founded and they shouldn't hide it now.
Congressional Day of Fasting 1776. Notice it calls for meditation on Jesus Christ.

I wouldn't sit through a Muslim's prayer, but I support their free excercise of their religion. I wouldn't sit through a Satanist's prayer, but again I support their right.
