If there was no way to make a prayer that would be acceptable to all involved, I might see your point. But in this case there are points of congruence between Christian, Jew and Muslim.

Even Buddhists and Hindus use the generic term "God" to mean deity.

Mormon, your foot is slipping! A prayer to God without making such a prayer in the name of Christ is a prayer to nobody. It would be as if I was praying to block of wood or perhaps the "doublemint twins".

Of course, I'm not the least bit suprised that most people find this offensive. The Lord never was interested in being domesticated.
