but, IMO, your standards for heroics is way too low.
And in my opinion, your standards for heroes is way too cynical. So I'll hang onto mine.

I've never been a lady, and proud of it! I'm an American!

And, of course, your idea of being a gentleman is the snide, controlling, condescending putdown.
Officer and a gentleman, NOT!

I recommend that the Second Ammendment Sisters grant Jessica Lynch a Life Time membership. Wonder what the MM think about Jessica. Think Sarah Brady is a little upset? Everyone knows how to use a rifle in Palestine, W.Va I bet.

She done good. No doubt about it. I'm sure she'll carry more ammo next time though ;)

Bronze Star and PH....exactly right. My wife and I both predict that W. will either invite her to the WH or he'll make the WV homecoming parade. I hope it's the latter.

What I want to know is who was the navigator for this lost unit, male or female?
To: Eagle Eye
A group of people are busy trashing Jessica on another thread
What an immflammatory and FALSE statment, and I DARE you to back it up.
The ambushed soldiers were taken by suprise by the Iraqis and it was over quick so its hard to belive this story.

How many enemy did she kill? How many rounds did she discharge? This story is bull--fertilizer

The initial reports on the ambush would make this story a lie--or a gross exaggeration-or the first ambush reports were wrong
and it was a sustained fire fight-but I doubt that.

But she's no heroine to me. She's a little girl that shouldn't have been there.

This was a little girl who belonged at home with her Daddy

From what we read here, the only solid source for PFC. Lynch's heroics is PFC. Lynch.
Maybe she did try to "fight to the death", more likely she didn't--

you don't know that she wasn't the fool that got them lost in the first place.

I gotta agree with Destro on this. Story is too pat and everyone wants to believe it. It just doesn't ring true.

I didn't realize that this thread was here simply to fling flowers of worship upon a poor soul whose main accomplishment was getting lost.

FYI the Pentagon is now refusing to comment on the "fighting to the death" story.

Are they denying Jessica has two broken legs and just underwent back surgery to regain feeling in her feet?
Actually there are some valid points there. Seems to me many here want to throw out praise without even knowing the full story. For all we know PFC Lynch made the call to turn left into hell and caused these deaths. I'm not saying this is the case but please sit back and let the dust settle. If nothing else this war has taught me to sit back and wait since it's all about competing news sources trying to break each story 1st and screwing up many of them.
To: skeeter
The reports of being shot and stabbed appear to be wrong, although she seems to have received a severe spinal injury. Anyone care to speculate how?

You think a PFC was in charge of this convoy?
To: patriciaruth
No I'm just saying none of know the whole story and are all starting to sound like a bunch of cackling hens. Don't read in what isn't there.
To: patriciaruth
Not to my knowlege.
No one doubts she was tortured. Not sure why you are asking.
