Iraqi forces represented a regular army company reinforced by Republican Guard elements

More likely the RG elements were holding guns to the heads of the regular army types. Or at least taking positions to the rear of them with the threat that if they retreated or attempted to surrender the RG would kill them.

BTW, I just heard on the CBS radio network that the leading elements of our forces can see the Baghdad skyline! Of course it's lit up like a Las Vegas cassino, so it can't be hard to see, once you get close enough to have a line of sight.
