Al Jazeera banned from boadcasting in Iraq.

Just reported on CNN Al Jazeera is being asked to leave Iraq by the Iraqi government. Presumably this means only Baghdad as this is the only city under their control. I wonder why? Coverage not slanted enough?

I hate to say it, but it might mean that Iraq is getting ready to pull some really bad stuff that it doesn't want broadcast on Arab media. I really hope not.

No al Jazeera in Iraq? Surely you jest. They've been one of the best propaganda tools Saddam ever had....unless there's something Iraq doesn't want al Jazeera to see.

Either that or they don't want them showing the Iraqi people welcoming their liberators.

That's my thought as well. The sheeple in the ME only get fed what the potentates want them to be fed. Sad.

I'm not sure that they are organized enough right now to have the plan to expel the media because they know that they are going to do something nasty.

You're probably right. There is no reason for them to give Al Jazeera the boot unless Iraq is planning on playing 'he said she said' with no 'impartial' witnesses.

Peter Arnett probably told them that Al Jazeera was slanted way too pro-American.

I hope that is the correct guess. Maybe Al Jazzera has been running some stuff lately that shows Iraqis welcoming American soldiers.

I think you may be right, but I hope to hell you're wrong.

Or maybe, just maybe, Iraqi leaders want to show some more phony pictures of Saddam and don't want Arab TV getting suspicious?

Seeing as we control half the country already, are we going to invite them back in?

We ought to put one reporter on that mosque in Karbala now so that Saddam's people don't blow it up.
