...for telling a London concert audience they were "embarrassed" that George W. Bush is a fellow TexanMy understanding has been that Natalie Maines said she was ashamed that George Bush was a Texan. To be ashamed is far more than merely to be embarrassed. The press carries water for celebrities even in the NY Post, it seems.

Dixie Chicks kick off their US tour, May 1, Greenville SC...and there is now an alternative concert in that same city, proceeds to go to troops, thanks to Mike Gallagher. I think it's gonna be fun...

"What is wrong with the world when what the Dixie Chicks say is more important than the war? Why does anyone care what we think?" She refuses to admit that people do care about what they say in their music and they pay very good money to hear it. People do not pay to hear them give their opinions.
In essence, this is not a "free speech" issue because the Ditzy Broads get paid to sing songs that the people like to hear. They are paid to "speak" certain things.
However, when artists break the "contract" by opining on a topic people didn't pay to hear, then they have every right to seek restitution of the trust that has been placed in artist.
IMHO, of course.

"With Rights, comes Responsibilities. Don't assume one, without assuming the other."
The main problem is that the education system in this country stopped teaching that a long time ago. They have been teaching that it's always some one elses fault for so long that they now believe it themselves.

"What is wrong with the world when what the Dixie Chicks say is more important than the war? Why does anyone care what we think?"That's the question we have been asking Hollywood. It usually gets us accusations of being blacklisters.
Apparently, the Chicks haven't read the talking points from Janeane Garofalo.

The left can't understand personal rights and responsibilities with firearms, you expect them to understand the same with mere words?

And in Natalie's case it's funny how the mouth to ass ratio works out just about right. Saying something slightly less stupid might not have been enough to tip the scales against her posterior.

Judging by the pictures of the three of them, I think Maines is eating the other two Chicks.
She gets fatter as they get skinnier.

The next time FAT NAT wants to shoot her mouth off, she should remember a little essay by Dennis Miller of all people.
Keep it simple, Stupid
By Dennis Miller
All the rhetoric on whether or not we should go to war against Iraq has got my insane little brain spinning like a roulette wheel. I enjoy reading opinions from both sides, but I have detected a hint of confusion from some of you. As I was reading the paper recently, I was reminded of the best advice someone ever gave me. He told me about the KISS method ("Keep it Simple, Stupid").
So, with this as a theme, I'd like to apply this theory for those who don't quite get it. My hope is that we can simplify things a bit and recognize a few important facts.
Here are 10 things to consider when voicing an opinion on this important issue:
1) President Bush and Saddam Hussein.....Hussein is the bad guy.
2) If you have faith in the United Nations to do the right thing, keep this in mind. They have Libya heading the Committee on Human Rights and Iraq heading the Global Disarmament Committee. Do your own math here.
3) If you use Google Search and type in "French Military Victories," your reply will be "Did you mean French Military Defeats?"
4) If your only anti-war slogan is "No war for oil," sue your school district for allowing you to slip through the cracks and robbing you of the education you deserve.
5) Saddam and Bin Laden will not seek United Nations approval before they try to kill us.
6) Despite what some seem to believe, Martin Sheen is NOT the President. He only plays one on T.V.
7) Even if you are anti-war, you are still an "Infidel" and Bin Laden wants you dead, too.
8) If you believe in a "vast right-wing conspiracy," but not in the danger that Hussein poses, quit hanging out with the Dell computer dude.
9) We are not trying to kill women and children - their leader is sending women and children into the streets as our soldiers enter cities.
10) Whether you are for military action, or against it, our young men and women overseas are fighting for us to defend our right to speak out. We all need to support them without reservation.

People who think their "celebrity" status is a ticket to vent their ignorance, must pay the price..........reminds me of something I saw on another site.......Listen to Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I'm a Celebrityyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

I beleive the Dixie Chix had the right to say what they said. HOWEVER, they should not have. And they should be banished from the radio, newspapers, and country music in general. "I may not like what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" -Voltaire. If anyone sees me buying anything of theirs shoot me. I've burned my posters, and destroyed my cds. Glad to see them booed a the Flameworthy Awards. Down with Lite FM.

Dixie Chicks. Doesn't seem a name like that would give you a huge liberal base. Read my lips. Don't piss off your base.

I'm not a fan of the Dixie Chicks music but I've always tried to seperate the artist from the art. For example some of the greatest artists in history were also some real jerks. Does this mean we cannot appreciate their art?

I don't walk into a museum and look at the art on the wall and decide if I should like it or not based on the political statements of the artists. Neither do I walk into a CD store and decline buying CDs because someone made some stupid political statements made by one of the performers.

I used to feel the same way - but the only way IMO to send these idiots a message is to hit them in the pocketbook - whether it is a reduction in CD sales for the Ditzy Chicks or in endowment donations for Columbia. Because some of that money, sooner or later, goes to liberal causes that are not in our interests.
