So was this the first surprise of this campaign?
1. The 4th ID was nothing but a redherring to fool the Iraqis into thinking we were waiting for them?
2. The talk about the plan and not enough troops was an addition to the 4th ID talk to make the Iraqis think we were waiting.

Just another good reason not to listen to the liberal media...

In fact, we might have to put a surgeon general's warning on the front of every newspaper and at the beginning of some broadcasts.....
WARNING, the people who assembled this information have NO idea what they are talking about - taking this propaganda seriously has been known to kill laboratory animals and Baathists....

"When a man is lying in a shell hole, if he just stays there all day, a Boche will get him eventually, and the h-ll with that idea. The h-ll with taking it. My men don't dig foxholes. I don't want them to. Foxholes only slow up an offensive. Keep moving. And don't give the enemy time to dig one. We'll win this war but we'll win it only by fighting and by showing the Germans we've got more guts than they have."

Al Kut, on the Tigris, is defended by the Baghdad Division of the RG. Shep on Fox News reporting fighting at Al Kut, over 100 miles from Baghdad.
We're poking 'em at Al Kut and at Karbala, at the same time. I suspect we would not do that NOW, if we needed the 4 ID to get the job done.
